Sonship

I’ve heard it said that obedience isn’t truly tested until you are faced with something you don’t agree with or that seems too challenging.  I heartily agree with this statement.  For your will isn’t put to the test unless you have to choose obedience over your perspective, comfort, or fears.  Thanks be to God that Jesus Christ shattered every excuse we could ever have to disobey.  Too hard?  He still obeyed.  Something you don’t want to do?  Jesus still obeyed.  In Matthew 26:39 it tells of Jesus choosing obedience over his own desires.  “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."  Jesus was the ultimate son.  I want to be like Him and obey Father’s voice no matter what the cost.  He’s just worth it.

..because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba,Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.(Rom 8:14-16)
